Sketches by Anne

Anne credits Sister M. Cecilia (Mount de Chantal Visitation Academy) and Wes Wagner, (Wheeling Country Day School and Oglebay Institute) for giving her training in drawing, perspective and color mixing.  Their approach to learning how to produce art was classic in nature and involved working in charcoal and pencil to learn value relationships.  After that, color was introduced with watercolor, tempera and eventually oils.

After graduating from The Mount, Anne attended Wheeling Jesuit University and Chatham College.  About ten years ago, she took up her love of drawing once again, after raising a family of six children.  She was juried into Artworks Around Town at that time and has been providing the area with countless works specializing in depicting people and pets.

Anne won the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Poster Contest for Constitution Week, in September, 2008.  Her entry won the state, region and tied for first place on the national level.  Copies were made and are being sold to raise money for the NSDAR.

Anne currently maintains a space at Artworks, at the historic Centre Market House, Market Street, Wheeling, West Virginia.
